Come and See us soon at "Miner's Cottage" Cheers Gae & Aaron. *Parking is Available *We open at 9am and close at 3pm each day as the light after that time is not good for spotting Gemstones. *We will be Happy to assist you in any way while you are Fossicking for Gemstones at "Miner's Cottage" Fossicking Park. The region is well known for many Tourist Facilities, Mines, Gem shops & Art Centres. *Central Queensland Gem fields are Famous as one of the World's Major Sapphire Fields. If you are inclined to try your luck later in the Designated Fossicking Fields you will have some idea on what you are looking for. When you do go into the Designated Fossicking fields you will need to obtain a 'Fossicking Licence' these can be obtained at Rubyvale or Emerald on your way through (You can get a Family Licence). We will also advise you on where to take your finds for Polishing or Cutting if you want to have them done before you leave this can usually be done overnight or 48hrs depending on what part of the season it is. Fossicking this way is not as back breaking as digging in the fields and you can enjoy a Free Coffee or Tea while you Fossick. A Bucket takes an Hour to Sieve & Wash and we will check when you have finished and find the ones you have missed so you can take the extras home with you. We check your finds and separate any that are Worth Cutting. Wear Old Clothes, just great fun, Hats and Sunscreen can get a bit dirty, good finds made Fossicking this way. *Just ask the Locals. *Only on a Short stay try your luck find a Gem take it home as a Souvenir. *Groups welcome but this could take 2-3 hours for the experience depending on the size of the Group. We will show you how to Sieve, Wash and what to look for. *At “Miner’s Cottage” we guide you and Supply all Tools.
